The big picture

Built around the way you sell.

Tax settings affect how customers understand prices and how a final order total is assembled. HEYA provides explicit controls for a fallback base rate, tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive inventory prices, and the relationship between tax and discount calculation. The app catalog also includes Taxation By Product / Keyword. These are configuration tools for applying your business’s chosen rules; the appropriate rules still depend on the products and markets involved.

A closer look

Taxes by product & region, in detail.

01

Establish the fallback tax treatment

Tax Setup includes a Tax Base Rate, described as the default used when a custom rate from an integrated app cannot be determined. Treat that fallback as a deliberate part of the setup. Review the product and market situations it is meant to cover so an unmatched case does not silently produce an unintended order total.

02

Choose inclusive or exclusive prices

Tax Mode distinguishes inventory prices that already include tax from prices to which tax is added at checkout. This affects both the numbers your team enters and the way customers understand a listed price. Keep that decision consistent with the store’s customer-facing wording and review representative products before making broad price changes.

03

Review product rules and discounts together

The backend lists a product/keyword taxation app and an Exclude Tax from Discount Calculation setting. These provide places to address more specific treatment and the calculation relationship between tax and promotions. Review example baskets with the appropriate specialist for your business where needed, especially when introducing new product groups or selling into another region.

In practice · illustrative scenario

A promotion with predictable totals

Before launching a discount, a retailer can review whether its inventory prices include tax and how the discount calculation is configured. Testing an ordinary basket and a discounted basket helps the team verify the intended arithmetic and present a consistent price explanation to customers.

Good to know

A little more clarity.

What is the base rate used for?

The setting describes it as a fallback when a custom tax rate from an integrated app cannot be determined. Review it alongside any more specific configuration rather than treating it as an unrelated number.

Does configuring these fields guarantee compliance?

No. The fields provide calculation controls. Your business must determine the appropriate treatment for its products and markets, configure it correctly, and review the resulting totals and customer-facing information.
