The big picture

Built around the way you sell.

Cash on delivery changes when payment is collected, so it also changes the information your team needs during fulfillment. HEYA’s Payment Setup includes a Cash On Delivery method, with customer-facing wording and extra-charge fields. The broader drivers experience includes COD-wallet concepts. Used together with a clear operating process, these tools help distinguish an order that has been placed from money that still needs to be collected and settled.

A closer look

Cash on delivery, in detail.

01

Set expectations at checkout

A cash-on-delivery method should explain that payment is due when the order is delivered. Review the name and description customers see, as well as any fixed or percentage extra charges configured for the method. The delivery promise and payment expectation should agree, so customers are not surprised when the order reaches their door.

02

Give the delivery team the right context

The person delivering an order needs to understand that cash collection is part of the handoff. Keep the order reference, amount, and payment method clear within the operational process. Cash-on-delivery orders should not be casually interpreted as already-paid card purchases, even when both move through the same product-picking and delivery stages.

03

Plan collection and settlement

Cash collection is not finished when an order leaves the warehouse. Define how the driver hands over collected funds and how the team reconciles those amounts with the associated orders. HEYA’s driver and COD-wallet presentation supports that operating context, while the business still needs a clear, consistently followed process for reviewing differences and completing settlement.

In practice · illustrative scenario

A delivery shift with clear cash responsibility

A local retail team can identify cash-on-delivery purchases before dispatch and make the collection expectation clear to the driver. At the end of the shift, the same order references support the review of collected funds. The payment method remains part of the order’s operational story throughout.

Good to know

A little more clarity.

Is placing a COD order the same as receiving payment?

No. The payment is intended to be collected at delivery. Your team should keep that distinction clear when preparing orders, reviewing payment information, and reconciling collected funds.

Can a payment method carry an extra charge?

Payment Setup exposes fixed and percentage extra-charge fields. Review the applicable settings and make any customer-facing charge clear before checkout is completed.
