The big picture

Built around the way you sell.

An order can be perfectly clear on screen and still take too long to prepare if nobody knows where the items are stored. HEYA’s Shelves Mapping app addresses that practical gap by associating products with shelf locations. It is a useful part of the handoff between catalog management and fulfillment: the product tells your team what to pick, while the location tells them where to look.

A closer look

Shelves mapping, in detail.

01

Describe locations consistently

A location naming system should be understandable to the people working in the storage area. Use a structure that matches your operation, such as a room, aisle, or shelf reference, and keep it consistent. The purpose is to reduce searching and interpretation. A short, reliable location is more useful than a detailed label that different team members read differently.

02

Connect location information to products

The Shelves Mapping app is described in the backend as a way to assign precise shelf locations to products and locate them during fulfillment. Maintain that information alongside the catalog so it remains useful when an order is prepared. Location information should reflect the physical operation, including changes made when products are moved or storage is reorganized.

03

Support a clearer picking handoff

Shelf information helps new staff and experienced pickers follow the same operational language. Combine it with the order’s product and variation information to reduce uncertainty about which item is required. Mapping does not replace checking the correct product and quantity; it gives the picker a more direct starting point for those checks.

In practice · illustrative scenario

A warehouse a new picker can understand

A homeware business can use references such as A-02 and B-04 to connect catalog items to their storage shelves. When a new team member prepares an order, the location convention provides a common starting point instead of relying on somebody else’s memory of the warehouse.

Good to know

A little more clarity.

Does shelf mapping replace stock quantities?

No. Quantity and location answer different questions. Stock tells you how much is available; shelf mapping helps explain where an item is stored. Both need to remain accurate for a reliable fulfillment process.

What happens when products move?

Update the associated location information as part of the move. A mapping is useful only when it reflects the current physical arrangement, so include it in your storage and replenishment procedures.
